The annual Royal Highland Festival is held on October 23rd to 24th in Laya under Gasa Dzongkhag. This festival is first introduced on 16th October 2016 to mark the celebration of the birth of HRH the Gyalsey. The main aim to celebrate this festival is to promote and preserve the life and culture of the nomadic highland people of Bhutan, supporting their economy. This festival displays games, parades and competitions showcasing highland animals, and stalls selling the local product of Himalayas. People across the country attend this festival to exhibit the beauty and wonders of the highland.
