One of the famous festivals in Bumthang is Jakar Tsechu and it is held on 7th to 10th day of 8th month of Bhutanese calendar. Jakar Tsechu displays different variety of mask dances conducted by monks which are developed according to precise instruction given by past Buddhist masters. People visit the festival dressed in their finest clothes and the festival is also popular among tourists. It is considered one of the important festival as it have many historical story.
